Cable Ties Tensile Strength

Cable Ties Tensile Strength

Tensile strength is the amount of weight a cable tie can hold safely before breaking, and it is one of the most important factors that make or break a cable tie. When buying cable ties, look out to see if tensile strength is listed and wether it is properly certified. All TR Industrial cable ties are made specifically to be high tensile strength so they are truly versatile and reliable, and all of them are VDE and UL certified.

While using cable ties, be careful not to exceed listed tensile strength, which is the most weight each tie can safely hold. Although it might appear that the cable tie can hold more than listed tensile strength, over time overloading can damage the cable ties.

Different Applications

Nylon 6/6 - UV Stabilized

UV Stabilized Nylon 6/6 is used in continuous or extended exposure to outdoor sunlight. The nylon cable tie is a weather resistant grade, enduring additional ultraviolet (UV) light. This grade is produced by incorporating stabilizers in the nylon resin. UV Stabilized Nylon cable ties are available only in black.

Nylon 6/6 - Heat Stabilized

Heat Stabilized Nylon 6/6 is used in continuous or extended exposure to high temperatures (up to 250°F). A general-purpose nylon will have a reduction in physical properties and fatigue as a result of high temperatures. Nylon cable ties containing specially formulated heat stabilizers provide additional thermal endurance. Heat stabilized nylons are engineered for continuous exposure to temperatures above 185°F, which meet UL standards for electrical applications.

Nylon 12 - Weather Resistant

Weather Resistant Nylon 12 has a UL relative thermal index rating of 194°F (90°C). Nylon 12 Material is resistant to most salts & chemicals and is rated for outdoor use for 12-15 years. Its an ideal solution for solar applications. Nylon 12 Material has low temperature toughness down to -40°F (-40°C) with a notched izod rating of 1.3ft lbs/inch at room temperature.

VDE/EN/IEC

Electro-technical products including products according to the Product Safety Act (ProdSG) and medical products according to the Medical Product Act (MPG)

  • According to VDE/EN/IEC standards, other technical specifications as well as possible provisions of law with respect to safety and health requirements.

UL Certification

The "Recognized Component Mark" is a type of quality mark issued by Underwriters Laboratories. It is placed on components which are intended to be part of a UL listed product.
